About the Opportunity
A well-established private family office in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper with strong Accounts Payable expertise to join a tight-knit, professional team of 20. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with a sophisticated organization managing diverse financial interests — offering the stability, discretion, and long-term growth potential that family office environments are known for.
If you take pride in accuracy, thrive in a low-drama, high-trust environment, and want your work to genuinely matter to the people you support, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close
- Process and oversee accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and timely vendor payments
- Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple related entities — accuracy and attention to entity-level detail is essential
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for ownership and leadership review
- Assist with cash flow tracking and bank reconciliations
- Collaborate with outside accountants, auditors, and advisors as needed
- Identify and help implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
What You Bring
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, with demonstrated accounts payable responsibility
- Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting — recording, reconciling, and resolving transactions between related entities (this is a must-have, not a nice-to-have)
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and/or similar accounting software
- Strong Excel skills
- A sharp eye for detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple entities/accounts simultaneously
- High level of discretion and professionalism — this role requires trust and confidentiality
- A self-starter mentality with the ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
Preferred (not required):
- Experience working within a family office, private company group, or multi-entity organization
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
