Hotel Maintenance WorkerJob Overview
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and skilled Hotel Maintenance Worker to support the daily operation, repair, and upkeep of our hotel facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining both the interior and exterior of the property and completing a wide range of maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, HVAC maintenance, carpentry, drywall repair, and general facility improvements.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to respond quickly to maintenance requests while maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, appliances, and other hotel facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical problems using schematics, hand tools, multimeters, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Complete plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing faucets, repairing toilets, clearing drains, maintaining water lines, and addressing water-pressure or drainage issues.
- Perform interior and exterior painting, including surface preparation, patching holes, repairing drywall, sanding, priming, caulking, and applying paint.
- Touch up guest rooms, hallways, common areas, offices, doors, trim, ceilings, and other painted surfaces as needed.
- Carry out carpentry work, including repairing doors, cabinets, furniture, locks, trim, shelving, and other interior fixtures.
- Assist with HVAC troubleshooting, filter replacement, thermostat issues, and basic heating and cooling system repairs.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as replacing light fixtures, repairing walls, assembling furniture, changing locks, and maintaining hotel equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and programmable logic controllers when required to resolve mechanical or electrical problems.
- Maintain the exterior of the property, including walkways, entrances, lighting, signage, landscaping-related fixtures, and parking areas.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
- Work with hotel staff, outside contractors, and other maintenance team members to complete repair and improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, materials used, preventive maintenance, and completed work orders.
- Follow all safety procedures, building codes, hotel policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools, supplies, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Assist with renovation, remodeling, painting, plumbing, and property improvement projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in hotel maintenance, building maintenance, facilities operations, apartment maintenance, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of general plumbing, painting, drywall repair, carpentry, electrical work, HVAC systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to repair plumbing fixtures, toilets, sinks, faucets, drains, valves, pipes, and water-supply systems.
- Experience with interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, drywall patching, caulking, sanding, and finishing.
- Ability to read basic electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, diagnostic equipment, ohmmeters, and multimeters.
- Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and operations procedures.
- Welding or programmable logic controller experience is helpful but not required.
- Ability to identify problems, determine appropriate repairs, and complete work efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good organizational, communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and contractors.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance requests.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays, or emergency on-call shifts when required.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding maintenance work.
