Introduction

The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. The Division of Adult Institutions is recruiting to fill an Offender Records Supervisor position. This position is based out of Waupun Correctional Institution (WCI) in Waupun, WI.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supervising the overall operations of Records Office including the processing of legal actions and providing information to criminal justice agencies and the public as required and/or requested, provision of technical services to persons in our care, DOC staff and the public. This position manages the Records Office; supervises subordinate staff; and implementing the Affirmative Action/Civil Rights Compliance Plans within areas of responsibility and in compliance with federal and state laws.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-04 with a starting rate of $30.07 - $37.17, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

NOTE: This position has the opportunity to work up to remotely up to 1 day per week.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process and must be clearly described in the letter of qualification and resume:

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

Performing complex mathematical calculations/computations, (e.g., performing sentence computations, accounting practices or financial/budgeting.)
Performing supervisory or leadership role duties (e.g., training, assigning, reviewing, evaluating the work of others etc.)
Monitoring regulatory activity to maintain compliance with records and documents and document management laws.

In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:

Communicating with people outside the organization representing the organization to customers, the public, government and other external sources (i.e., by letter, phone, in person, virtually etc.)
Analyzing, interpreting and applying state and federal laws, administrative rules and regulations
Reviewing and interpreting court procedures or legal documents
