This is the key position within the BRL Academy team and is directly linked to the Cal-CRG master contract deliverables. The objective of the Academy is to support promising Transitional Age Youth (TAY) through transitioning into professional care providers within the Social Services Field who would in turn return to serve the communities they came from.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Academy Workforce Case Manager is responsible for coordinating individualized workforce readiness, barrier reduction, and career development services for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) enrolled in The Academy. The primary objective of this role is to help participants identify, address, and overcome barriers to employment while supporting them in securing and maintaining meaningful employment and achieving long-term economic stability.
The Workforce Case Manager works collaboratively with participants to develop individualized employment and career plans that align with each participant's strengths, interests, and long-term goals. Services include ongoing career coaching, resource navigation, employment readiness support, and coordination with internal staff and community partners throughout Alameda County.
Services are provided at the BRL office, employer worksites, educational institutions, community locations, partner agencies, and virtually, as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The primary responsibility of the Workforce Case Manager is to support participants in successfully progressing through The Academy by:
- Assessing employment readiness, career interests, strengths, and barriers to employment.
- Developing individualized Career Success Plans with measurable workforce and personal development goals.
- Connecting participants to supportive services that reduce barriers to employment, including transportation, housing resources, childcare referrals, mental health services, financial literacy resources, legal aid, food assistance, technology access, and other community-based supports.
- Conducting ongoing one-on-one coaching sessions focused on accountability, goal achievement, professional growth, and employment retention.
- Supporting participants in obtaining workforce certifications, completing required documentation, and meeting program milestones.
- Monitoring participant progress toward employment, educational, and career goals while adjusting service plans as needed.
- Coordinating referrals to external partners, training providers, apprenticeship programs, educational institutions, and employers.
- Maintaining accurate case documentation, service notes, participant progress reports, and employment outcome tracking.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners, community colleges, high schools and providers for participant support recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Will hold case load of 10-20 Fellows (via combination of weekly to biweekly sessions)
- Meet with TAY and wraparound team to further treatment goals.
- Coordinate and implement overall treatment and services for assigned W.E.T. participants.
- Will attend weekly clinical team meeting
- Plan and facilitate psychoeducational workshops as needed
- Complete participant assessments and treatment plans as needed
- Support participants in meeting Alameda County Behavioral Health Care contract deliverables:
- Completion of Career educational action plan per participant
- Support each participant having a professional career CV by graduation or by completion of services
- Support participants in entering higher education or vocational training
- Support students in entering human services field
- Support participant in economic empowerment education
- Support participants’ sense of community support and engagement
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Function as team leader and uphold the ideals of the Academy program.
- Facilitate two-hour Peer Support Specialist training sessions, equipping participants with foundational peer mentoring skills, trauma-informed practices, ethical standards, communication techniques, and introductory behavioral health concepts to prepare them for careers in peer support and human services.
- Provide assistance in case planning and consultation to team members on clinical issues as well as casework issues, as appropriate. Attend all required training.
- Will complete all administrative functions fully within a timely manner including but not limited to Workforce Goals, Case Notes, Assessments, Client Charts, etc.
- Participate in individual and/or group supervision.
- Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing the BRL mission, values and philosophy.
- Perform all other duties as necessary for the good of the agency as directed by the supervisor.
- This is a community-based position that requires regular travel throughout the community. Case Managers are expected to conduct weekly in-person check-ins with participants in community settings, including schools, homes (when appropriate), partner agencies, and other mutually agreed-upon locations, to foster engagement, provide individualized support, and reduce barriers to success.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This is a supervisory position.
This position will receive weekly:
- 1 hour of administrative supervision
- 1 hour of 1:1 clinical supervision or 2 hours of clinical group supervision
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Preferred (3-5+) years working with TAY and Diverse Populations
Education: Minimum Bachelors in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling/Related Field
REQUIRED SKILLS/VALUES

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position requires working in community, office and classroom settings. It also requires being in the field weekly to coordinate services.
- This position will be required to visit local high schools, not for profits, community colleges, and other locations within Alameda County on a weekly basis. Telehealth will be provided when necessary.
- Applicants must be willing and able to transport participants as a regular part of their duties. This position requires frequent driving throughout the community to support participant engagement, employment readiness, appointments, and access to essential services
- May be requested to work overtime for special yearly program events.
- This CBO is in a transition period and positions require a fluid perspective toward our rapid growth.
- This position is part of that growth and patience and perspective will be needed as the role develops over the next two years. Part of this position is providing feedback on how the role should function for the long term and to be part of its development.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
