Job Summary
Middle Georgia Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Safety & Human Resources Coordinator to support a manufacturing facility in Jackson, Mississippi.
This position combines workplace safety, OSHA compliance, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, workers’ compensation, and general Human Resources responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in both an office and an active industrial/manufacturing environment.
This is not strictly a desk position. The Safety & HR Coordinator will maintain a visible presence throughout the facility, build relationships with employees and supervisors, identify potential safety concerns, conduct training and investigations, and help ensure a safe, compliant, and productive workplace.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & Compliance
- Serve as the primary on-site Safety representative.
- Promote a strong workplace safety culture throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine facility and workplace safety inspections.
- Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and coordinate corrective actions.
- Conduct accident, injury, property damage, and near-miss investigations.
- Determine root causes and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain OSHA logs, injury records, safety documentation, required postings, and training records.
- Conduct new-hire safety orientations and coordinate ongoing safety training.
- Coordinate and document monthly safety meetings.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and established workplace safety practices.
- Assist with workers’ compensation claims, injury management, and return-to-work programs.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, safety audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Recommend practical improvements to reduce workplace risks and prevent injuries.
Human Resources
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and employee orientation.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including drug testing, physicals, and employment documentation.
- Maintain confidential personnel, HR, and training records.
- Assist supervisors with attendance concerns, employee relations, performance discussions, disciplinary documentation, and policy interpretation.
- Assist with workers’ compensation administration, unemployment claims, and employment verifications.
- Coordinate required employee training and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate significant employee relations or workplace concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Promote professional, respectful communication and positive employee relations throughout the facility.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2–5 years of experience in workplace safety, Human Resources, or a combination of both.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with OSHA compliance and workplace safety preferred.
- Experience with accident/injury investigations and workers’ compensation preferred.
- Experience with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and employment compliance preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with leadership.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30 preferred.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, ASP, CSP, or related professional certifications are a plus but not required.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience will be considered.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This position works in a combination of office and industrial manufacturing environments.
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Walking and standing for extended periods.
- Frequently entering production and manufacturing areas.
- Working around heat, dust, noise, vibration, forklifts, machinery, and airborne particulates.
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and occasionally using ladders or elevated platforms.
- Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, gloves, high-visibility apparel, and steel-toe footwear.
- Frequently lifting up to 25 lbs. and occasionally assisting with items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Schedule
Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Occasional overtime, evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required based on operational needs. Work hours may occasionally vary to support accident investigations, training, emergency response, regulatory inspections, or other operational needs.
