JOB
The Summer Camp Instructor is responsible for leading and guiding a group of campers through a summer filled with exploration, learning, and growth. This role includes designing and implementing a dynamic, hands-on curriculum that blends education with adventure, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all campers. The instructor is responsible for creating engaging, educational activities that align with the camp’s mission, ensuring a positive experience, while also maintaining the safety and well-being of each camper.

Curriculum Creation & Facilitation

Develop and design an engaging, hands-on curriculum that aligns with the camp’s educational mission.

Plan and lead activities that encourage campers to explore new concepts, build skills, and foster creativity.

Tailor lessons and activities to meet the diverse learning styles and interests of campers.

Integrate educational content with fun, interactive experiences that keep campers engaged.

Continuously evaluate and adjust the curriculum to ensure it remains relevant, challenging, and enjoyable for all campers.
Program Leadership

Lead and facilitate daily camp programming for assigned groups of campers.

Prepare in advance to effectively deliver camp curriculum, activities, and demonstrations.

Teach the principles, techniques, and safe use of equipment related to camp activities.

Adapt activities as needed to meet camper skill levels and engagement needs.

Maintain an energetic, positive, and structured learning environment.
Camper Supervision and Safety

Maintain active supervision of campers at all times to ensure safety and well-being.

Observe camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Ensure all camp rules, safety protocols, and facility guidelines are followed.

Identify potential hazards and respond quickly to safety concerns.

Document and report any injuries, incidents, or safety issues according to policy.
Camp Experience Management

Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all campers.

Introduce new campers and help facilitate positive group dynamics.

Communicate clearly with campers, parents, camp leadership, and fellow staff.

Assist in evaluating camp programming and recommend improvements or adjustments.
Staff Coordination

Provide direction to Assistant Instructors during camp activities.

Delegate support tasks as needed to ensure smooth camp operations.

Work collaboratively with camp leadership and other instructors.
