The Process Engineer – Aerospace Precision Machining is responsible for developing, optimizing, and controlling high-precision machining processes used in the production of aerospace components. This role ensures compliance with aerospace quality standards while improving efficiency, reducing scrap, helping with quoting, and maintaining tight tolerances on critical parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC machining processes for aerospace components (milling, turning, grinding)
- Create and maintain process documentation and standard work
- Select tooling, cutting parameters, and work holding solutions for tight-tolerance parts
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from prototype through production
- Conduct root cause analysis for dimensional, surface finish, and quality issues
- Improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and increase machine utilization
- Perform capability studies (Cp, Cpk) and statistical process control (SPC)
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100
- Collaborate with programming, quality, and production teams
- Support capital equipment purchases and machine validation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in precision CNC machining (aerospace preferred)
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Experience working with tight tolerances (±0.0005” or tighter)
- Knowledge of machining aerospace materials (Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum alloys, Stainless Steel)
- Familiarity with SPC and quality systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC machining
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks)
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- Experience with process validation and FAI documentation
- APQP or PPAP experience

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
