Position Summary
The Assisted Living Facility Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assisted living facility and for ensuring that residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. The Manager supervises staff, coordinates resident services, maintains facility operations, communicates with families and healthcare professionals, and ensures that facility policies and applicable Maryland assisted living regulations are followed.
Essential Responsibilities Resident Care and Services
- Ensure residents receive appropriate care and assistance based on their individual service plans.
- Monitor residents' overall well-being and report changes in condition promptly.
- Ensure medications, treatments, appointments, meals, activities, and transportation are properly coordinated.
- Monitor resident safety and respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, falls, and other incidents.
- Ensure resident rights, dignity, privacy, and personal choices are respected.
- Communicate with families, physicians, nurses, case managers, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and resident transitions.
Staff Management
- Supervise direct-care staff and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
- Prepare and maintain staff schedules.
- Assign duties and monitor staff performance.
- Conduct staff orientation and assist with ongoing training.
- Ensure employees complete required training, certifications, screenings, and documentation.
- Address attendance, performance, and workplace concerns.
- Report serious personnel issues to the Owner/Administrator.
Facility Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the facility.
- Ensure the home is clean, safe, organized, and properly maintained.
- Monitor food service, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, supplies, and maintenance.
- Ensure emergency supplies and safety equipment are available and maintained.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs with the Owner/Administrator.
- Monitor facility inventory and notify management when supplies need to be ordered.
Documentation
- Ensure resident records are accurate, current, and maintained appropriately.
- Review staff documentation, medication records, incident reports, service plans, and other required records.
- Ensure required daily, weekly, and monthly documentation is completed.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information.
Communication
- Maintain professional communication with residents, families, staff, healthcare providers, referral sources, and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in meetings involving residents and their care.
- Respond to concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Notify the Owner/Administrator of significant operational, resident, staffing, or compliance concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience working in assisted living, residential care, healthcare, or a related setting.
- Knowledge of assisted living operations and resident care.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Must meet applicable Maryland licensing and regulatory requirements for the position.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification as required.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and employee health requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Assisted Living Manager training/certification.
- Experience with Maryland OHCQ requirements and COMAR regulations.
- Experience with electronic resident documentation systems.
- Medication management or MedTech experience.
- Experience supervising healthcare or direct-care staff.
Work Schedule
The Manager must be available to address facility needs, staff concerns, resident emergencies, and operational issues. The position may require evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Pay: $25.33 - $30.50 per hour
