This role involves setting up and operating advanced 5-axis CNC mills and multi-spindle lathes to produce precision aerospace components from high-performance materials. The machinist interprets complex engineering data, ensures tight-tolerance quality through inspection, and troubleshoots machining or programming issues to maintain efficient production.
SALARY: $22/hr.
LOCATION: Portland, OR
SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday-Friday | 7:00am-3:30pm
WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE
Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment, materials, and CAD/CAM tools.
Take ownership of challenging setups and problem-solving that directly impact production success.
Develop highly sought-after skills in tight-tolerance machining and multi-axis operations.
Be part of a quality-driven environment where craftsmanship and technical expertise are valued
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Set up and operate complex 5-axis vertical/horizontal mills and multi-spindle lathes, including fixture alignment, work holding, specialized tooling installation, and machining of aerospace alloys such as Titanium, Inconel, and Stainless Steel while optimizing feeds, speeds, and tool performance.
Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to plan machining operations, ensure dimensional accuracy, and maintain tight tolerances to ±.001" or better.
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments, troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear and chatter, and make basic G-code edits to maximize quality, efficiency, and machine uptime.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
3+ years of CNC machining experience, including 2–3 years in 5-axis setup and operation, with proficiency in advanced controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol, Heidenhain).
Strong ability to interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T, with hands-on experience machining high-performance aerospace alloys.
Skilled in precision inspection and familiar with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Hypermill, Siemens NX) for quality control and toolpath optimization.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and safely lift and position heavy materials or tooling.
