Crane Operator

Radius Recycling is seeking a Crane Operator to join our operations team. In this role, you will safely operate material handling equipment to load, unload, sort, and move scrap metal throughout our facility while supporting efficient production and maintaining a safe work environment.
This position is a great fit for individuals with experience operating cranes, excavators, material handlers, heavy equipment, construction equipment, or similar machinery in industrial environments.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate hydraulic and/or cable cranes and material handling equipment
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and processing equipment
- Move materials throughout the facility to support production operations
- Follow hand signals, radio communication, and operating instructions from team members
- Inspect loads and verify equipment is being used within safe lifting capacities
- Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment, employees, and hazards
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns
- Assist with sorting scrap materials and removing debris as needed
- Maintain accurate communication with supervisors and operations personnel
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational procedures
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating cranes, material handlers, excavators, loaders, or other heavy equipment
- Experience in recycling, construction, demolition, manufacturing, waste management, or industrial operations
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment concerns
- Experience conducting equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance checks

Work Environment
This position works primarily outdoors in an active recycling and industrial facility.
Employees may be exposed to:
- Various weather conditions
- Moving vehicles and heavy equipment
- Noise, dust, and industrial materials
- Elevated equipment operating positions
Required personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn when required.
Physical Requirements
To perform this job successfully, candidates should be able to:
- Sit for extended periods while operating equipment
- Climb into and out of equipment safely
- Work at elevated heights in crane cabs
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Use hands and feet continuously to operate equipment controls
- Maintain constant visual awareness of work areas and equipment movement
- Walk on uneven surfaces throughout the facility when outside equipment
