Mechanical Fabrication Technician
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined Mechanical Fabrication Technician for a contract opportunity in Brooklyn Heights, OH. This position will assist with the fabrication and assembly of water treatment plant filtration systems.
This is a hands-on position involving a combination of stainless steel fabrication, PVC plumbing, drilling, tapping, machining, and mechanical assembly. Candidates do not need to have every skill listed below. Pay ranges from $26–$32/hour and will be based on overall experience and the number of relevant skills you bring to the position.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble water treatment filtration systems
- Work with stainless steel welded frames
- Perform TIG and/or MIG welding on stainless steel
- Cut, fit, glue, and assemble PVC piping and components
- Perform plastic/PVC plumbing
- Perform plastic hot-gas welding when required
- Drill and tap holes for mechanical assembly
- Perform basic machining and fabrication work
- Read and follow P&IDs and process flow diagrams
- Assemble mechanical components according to specifications
- Use basic hand and power tools safely
- Assist with electrical-related assembly when qualified; electrical components being worked with are not live
- Work independently or as part of a fabrication team
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Preferred Skills & Experience
We are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Stainless steel TIG or MIG welding
- PVC/plastic piping and plumbing
- Plastic hot-gas welding
- Mechanical fabrication and assembly
- Reading P&IDs or process flow diagrams
- Drilling and tapping
- Machining
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Water treatment equipment or filtration system assembly
- Strong mechanical aptitude

Compensation
$26.00–$32.00/hour, based on experience and skill set.
Candidates with multiple relevant skills—including stainless steel welding, PVC plumbing, machining, fabrication, P&ID reading, or electrical knowledge—will be considered toward the higher end of the pay range.
