Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and in-home care environments. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients with daily living activities, monitoring their health and well-being, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in the client’s condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and preferences of clients.
- Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals or family members.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
All Team Members must:
- be 18 years of age or older
- have a current driver's license with no suspensions or points within the past three years
- possess a high school diploma or GED
- have no prohibitive criminal offenses
- be available to work on weekends and holidays
- complete and pass the ODP medication administration training
