Whitewater Unified School District is seeking applications for a Maintenance Technician (Plumber). This individual will support the District in carrying out preventive maintenance and repairs as needed. This is a Monday through Friday position, typical work hours are 6:30am-3:00pm.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Maintenance Technician ensures safe, effective, and efficient learning and working environments by maintaining HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, locksmith services, and other buildings and grounds equipment and systems. The Maintenance Technician is considered an on-call position and, in rare instances, may be requested to respond to after-hours emergencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General
- Communicate effectively.

- Use technology tools effectively, including Microsoft Office suite and/or Google Drive and related applications, and work order/maintenance programs.
- Exhibit ethical behavior in all actions.
Maintenance/Facilities
- Repair and maintain equipment and building systems including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, vehicles, fire alarm systems, food service equipment, boilers, chillers, air handlers, flooring, and bathroom fixtures.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required.
- Log preventative and reactive maintenance in the prescribed work order/maintenance program.
- Repair, replace, and re-key locks; cut and issue keys; maintain appropriate key records.
- Complete new construction and remodeling projects as required, including, but not limited to, carpentry, concrete work, drywall, framing, and ceiling systems.
- Operate forklifts and aerial lifts to receive deliveries and make repairs.
- Plow and salt sidewalks, parking lots, and other surfaces during snow season.
- Perform necessary water tests to ensure safe drinking water.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:

- Attend conferences and training programs in related fields.
- Learn and implement new technologies.
- Demonstrate a willingness to grow professionally.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Director of Business Services, and/or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate, or equivalent, with technical training in one or more of the following disciplines: HVAC, electrical, or plumbing
- 3-5 years of maintenance/trade-related experience in government or corporate settings, with preference for K-12 experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- Ability to obtain forklift certification

The work environment varies based on the type of work being performed, including a maintenance/grounds shop, standard office setting, and a standard school setting. Exposure to environmental factors, including temperature variations, odors, noise, machinery, dampness, and dust, among others, will occur. The working environment may also include confined spaces.
