JOB SUMMARY:

This position is designed as a stable/farm hand for the Clemson University Equine Center. In conjunction with the current management team, this person has the responsibility of not only maintaining the current functionality of the farm, but also improving its efficiency and aesthetic. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Assist with the upkeep of all 3 barns and several additional buildings on CUEC property. This includes minor maintenance repairs and upgrades, cleanliness, ensuring safe usability, etc.

40% - Essential - Assist with mowing grass, bush-hogging, minor fence repair, weed eating, spraying, arena dragging, and pasture improvement. Additionally, assist with manure management as well as hay/feed pickup & delivery as needed.

10% - Essential - Assist with maintaining all of the CUEC farm equipment including, but not limited to, tractors, mowers, skid steer, etc.

10% - Essential - Assist the management team with all aspects of herd health and management including daily care (feeding, turning in/out, cleaning stalls), assisting veterinarians and farriers, transporting horses, etc. Especially relevant during low-staffed times of year I.E. holidays.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. on a year-for-year basis.
Work Experience - 1+ years experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Salary Range: $37,200 - $40,000

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
