We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and kind individual to join our York Middle School Wildcat team as a Part-Time Cafe and Recess Monitor for the upcoming school year. This role helps students navigate the social, interactive and physical time of their day in a healthy, safe manner with supportive adults. The ideal candidate will be a consistent, positive and engaging presence who is able to actively support the vast needs of middle level children.ResponsibilitiesSupervise students ages 9-14 in the cafeteria and on the playground during recess.Work collaboratively with a team of three other adults to support a student body of approximately 475 students.Actively engage with students, fostering positive social interactions and conflict resolution.Address the social needs of students in a compassionate and proactive manner.Assist in maintaining a safe and structured lunch and recess environment.Schedule & DetailsDays: Monday through FridayHours: 10:00 AM through 1:00 PMTerm: This is a school-year position, starting on August 31, 2026, and ending on or after June 15, 2027, depending on the school calendar and any potential snow days.Qualifications: Someone with: experience working with children, preferably in an middle school setting.the ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and needs.a compassionate and patient demeanor.strong communication and collaboration skills to work as part of a team.an active, consistent and positive presence.
