Description – Responsible for coordinating shop workflow, improving organization and quality, supporting welding and fabrication operations, and helping develop a more efficient operation. This is a hands-on role that combines shop coordination with active support in fabrication, repair, and related work.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Coordinate daily shop workflow and help keep jobs moving efficiently.
- Assist in planning, prioritizing, and staging work to improve productivity and reduce confusion.
- Support and participate in welding, fabrication, repair, and general shop work as needed.
- Help improve organization, cleanliness, and readiness of shop areas, materials, and supplies.
- Assist with inventory, consumables, and supply control to reduce delays and shortages.
- Work with management to improve standardization, training, and shop processes.
- Help create and maintain shop drawings, job layouts, and clearer work instructions when needed.
- Support pump rebuild, service, and repair work as required.
- Coordinate with vendors, machine shops, and motor shops as needed.
- Promote quality workmanship, safe work practices, and attention to detail.
- Help train and develop team members in proper methods, workflow, and shop standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance and professional interactions with customers, co-workers, and vendors.
- Safely operate forklifts, shop equipment, tools, and related machinery.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be reliable, have a good attitude, work well with others, have attention to detail, and show self-starter initiative.
- Strong welding and fabrication experience.
- Shop coordination, workflow, or lead experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability required.
- Machining experience a plus.
- Experience reading, interpreting, or helping create shop drawings a plus.
- Experience with pump repair, rebuilds, or irrigation-related equipment a plus.
- Good organizational skills and ability to keep multiple jobs moving.
- Ability to help train others and support a productive team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Technical training a plus.
- Ability to stand, stoop, climb, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance.
