Job Summary

Long Term Medical Supply is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our team and provide respiratory and home medical equipment services to patients through our Hampton and Iowa Falls locations.
This position is ideal for an RT who enjoys working directly with patients, providing education and respiratory support, and developing ongoing relationships with patients and referral sources.
Previous DME experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide compassionate, professional service to patients, caregivers, referral sources, and customers.
- Set up and instruct patients, caregivers, and family members on the safe and proper use of home medical and respiratory equipment according to physician orders and patient needs.
- Program CPAP/BiPAP devices, fit PAP masks, and provide education and ongoing patient support.
- Assist patients with mask fitting, compliance concerns, troubleshooting, and respiratory equipment questions.
- Read and interpret sleep studies as appropriate.
- Perform oximetry and conserver testing.
- Support patients with oxygen therapy, equipment use, and safety education.
- Ensure services are provided according to physician orders, patient evaluations, and prescribed plans of care.
- Complete required patient documentation accurately and thoroughly.
- Review paperwork, insurance requirements, physician orders, and supporting documentation for completeness.
- Create and maintain patient/client files as needed.
- Communicate with physicians, healthcare providers, referral sources, patients, and caregivers regarding equipment and respiratory needs.
- Educate referral sources regarding LTMS products, services, and documentation requirements.
- Assist with scheduling oxygen visits and deliveries as needed.
- Assist with respiratory equipment maintenance, servicing, tracking logs, and inventory accuracy.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist walk-in customers when needed.
- Assist with ordering respiratory equipment and supplies as necessary.
- Help ensure equipment, vehicles, and work areas are clean, properly maintained, serviced, and tagged.
- Participate in the scheduled on-call rotation and complete patient deliveries or equipment setups as directed.
- Follow LTMS policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, FDA, HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
- Participate in required training, continuing education, quality assurance, and e-learning programs.
- Represent Long Term Medical Supply in a positive and professional manner.
- Uphold and implement Long Term Medical Supply's mission and values.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Licensing
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must hold an active Respiratory Therapist license applicable to the position.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
Experience
- Previous DME or home respiratory experience preferred, but not required.
- Previous healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
- CPAP/BiPAP and oxygen experience preferred.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge & Skills

- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple patient and operational needs.
- Strong phone and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to learn respiratory equipment, DME products, insurance requirements, and company procedures.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Typing and 10-key proficiency preferred.
