Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaning & Sanitation Team Member who is bilingual in English and Spanish to join our dynamic facilities maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall safety of our commercial and residential spaces. Your efforts will directly contribute to creating a healthy, welcoming environment for clients, staff, and visitors. Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of designated areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment, including floor buffers, vacuums, mops, and scrubbers.
- Handle chemical agents safely by following established safety procedures and proper storage protocols.
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks in accordance with safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment.
- Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to ensure a professional appearance.
- Restock supplies such as paper products, cleaning materials, and sanitation items in restrooms and common areas.
- Follow detailed sanitation procedures to uphold health standards across all facilities.
- Assist with general facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs and painting as needed.
- Operate cleaning machinery efficiently while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client or staff inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Support team efforts in maintaining a clean, safe environment that meets all safety protocol requirements.
Requirements
- Proven custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or residential settings.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and industrial cleaning tools.
- Knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures and proper use of cleaning agents.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and equipment operation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required for effective communication with diverse teams and clients.
- Experience with sanitation standards, facilities maintenance, and industrial cleaning techniques.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.

Schiff Food Products is seeking a Cleaning & Sanitation Team Member to help maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout our spice manufacturing facility.
This is NOT a general janitorial position.
This is a critical food safety role responsible for cleaning and sanitizing food processing equipment and production areas in compliance with FDA, FSMA, SQF, GMP, and SSOP requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSpanish & English Fluency Required
Applicants MUST be bilingual in English and Spanish.
This position requires daily communication with supervisors, QA personnel, production employees, and the ability to understand written and verbal instructions in both languages.
Spanish speaking is mandatory.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing:
- Food processing equipment
- Grinding equipment
- Blending equipment
- Packaging machinery
- Conveyors
- Screens and sifters
- Floors
- Walls
- Ceilings
- Overhead structures
- Drains
- Storage racks
- Warehouses
- Common areas
- Exterior sanitation areas as assigned
Daily Duties
- Perform complete cleaning and sanitation of production equipment
- Follow the required 7-Step Cleaning & Sanitation Process
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment safely
- Remove food residue, spice dust, allergens, and debris
- Use approved detergents and sanitizers
- Prepare equipment for QA Pre-Operational Inspection
- Complete end-of-shift sanitation
- Properly store all cleaning tools and chemicals
- Remove waste and maintain sanitary conditions throughout the facility
- Maintain accurate sanitation records when required
- Immediately report sanitation, food safety, chemical, or equipment concerns
Food Safety Responsibilities
You will help prevent:
- Cross-contamination
- Allergen cross-contact
- Pest attraction
- Chemical contamination
- Product contamination
Every cleaning task directly supports our SQF Food Safety System and FDA compliance.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be fluent in both English and Spanish (Required)
- Have previous commercial cleaning, sanitation, food manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial cleaning experience
- Be able to follow detailed cleaning procedures
- Work safely around food processing equipment
- Understand or be willing to learn GMPs and Food Safety practices
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Be dependable with excellent attendance
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work on elevated platforms
- Work around cleaning chemicals safely
- Be comfortable working in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy production environments
- Wear required PPE, including hair nets, beard nets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Food manufacturing
- Sanitation in FDA-regulated facilities
- SQF or BRC facilities
- SSOP cleaning procedures
- Chemical mixing and sanitation chemicals
- Floor scrubbers, vacuums, and industrial cleaning equipment
- Pressure washing and dry cleaning methods
- Lockout/Tagout awareness
