Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Patient Service Coordinator to join our healthcare team! Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, answer multi-line phone systems, and provide exceptional customer service with professional phone etiquette.
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) Athenahealth; manage clinic calendars efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorization and verification procedures, including Medicare and Medicaid processes.
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining meticulous documentation review practices.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information, updating health histories, and explaining clinic policies.
- Maintain accurate filing of medical records, manage office supplies, and support overall clinic management tasks such as front desk operations and office management.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of EMR systems such as Athenahealth; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, and health information management practices.
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid; familiarity with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette expertise; ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to better serve diverse patient populations.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus.
- Demonstrated clerical skills such as typing (including 10 key typing), filing, data entry, and maintaining detailed documentation in a fast-paced environment.
