The Sheriff delegates the duty to provide the transportation of inmates/prisoners to Special Deputy-Transport Agents (the “Agents”), which are deputized to go armed and to use force, but not to make arrests. Under the general supervision of the Support Services Captain and the Transport Agent Supervisor, the Agents will attend on the Circuit Courts of Brown County by conveying inmates/prisoners to appropriate facilities/locations while providing for their care, conduct, control and safety during their time in the Agents’ custody. The Agents will also be required to complete other inmate/prisoner transportation related duties as assigned.
The Agents may also be responsible for greeting and screening all persons coming through the single point public entrance of the courthouse. It is the Agents' daily responsibility to inspect and operate all screening equipment. Screening equipment includes and may not be limited to an x-ray device, a metal-detecting walk-through doorway and a hand-held wand. the screening officer may be required to deny entrance to the courthouse in the event that a person does not cooperate with the security screening procedures.
