Description

Position Summary:

The Student and Family Engagement Coordinator supports district-wide efforts to strengthen meaningful, consistent, and high-impact engagement between schools, students, families, and the broader community. This role supports the development of staff capacity to build strong relationships, remove barriers to participation, and ensure that all students and families are actively connected to learning opportunities and school life.

Because engagement influences every aspect of the district, from academics and attendance to behavior and culture, the Student and Family Engagement Coordinator collaborates with administrators, teachers, support staff, and community partners to create welcoming, responsive, and coordinated systems that promote student success.

Essential Functions:

Develop, oversee, and monitor the district’s Student and Family Engagement Plan aligned to district strategic priorities and Key Performance Indicators.

Research, design, and implement evidence-based strategies that strengthen family partnerships, student voice, and community collaboration.

Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to ensure engagement practices are consistent, accessible, and aligned across schools.

Support the implementation of professional learning that enhances communication practices, culturally responsive engagement, and relationship-centered leadership.

Serve as a liaison between schools and families to promote clarity, responsiveness, and trust.

Provide mentoring and coaching to principals and staff to strengthen school climate and engagement systems.

Support principals in developing structures that promote student participation, attendance, and positive behavior.

Oversee 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CLCs): Lighted School House and MELT.

Oversee Title IV-B and Fund 80 budgets associated with CLC programming.

Facilitate district committees focused on engagement, climate, and partnership initiatives.

Support school-based decision-making processes, including family engagement in budgeting, staffing, student leadership, discipline systems, and program development.

Assist administrators in improving staff competencies related to communication, engagement, and partnership-building.

Provide consultation regarding attendance and discipline systems to ensure proactive and relationship-centered approaches.

Recommend programs and services that enhance student participation, belonging, and academic success.

Supervisory Responsibilites:

Community Learning Center (CLC) (MELT) Director

Postsecondary Navigator

Other Responsibilites:

Represent the District at educational, civic, and community functions as directed.

Maintain partnerships with local higher education institutions, community organizations, and service providers.

Attend board meetings and other meetings as designated by the superintendent.

Draft board policies, administrative procedures, and status reports related to engagement and community partnership.

Collaborate with district leaders to integrate engagement efforts into a cohesive district-wide strategy.

Prepare reports and documentation as required.

Stay current on research and best practices in family engagement, school climate, and student support systems.

Maintain compliance with Policy 4122.01 – Drug-Free Workplace.

Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, social work, or related field from an accredited university – master’s degree preferred.

Leverages Research and Data to Drive Decisions: Systematically analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, diagnose challenges, and implement evidence-based solutions that improve student and organizational outcomes.

Collaborates to Achieve Results: Builds strong cross-functional partnerships, facilitates shared decision-making, and aligns diverse stakeholders around common goals to ensure collective impact.

Leads with Vision and Accountability: Sets clear direction, establishes measurable goals, monitors progress, and holds self and others accountable for achieving high standards of performance.

Communicates with Clarity and Influence: Delivers clear, concise, and purpose-driven communication tailored to varied audiences; actively listens, builds trust, and fosters transparent dialogue.

Demonstrates Strong Management Practices: Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages resources, delegates responsibilities, and develops systems that increase efficiency, consistency, and organizational effectiveness.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

A minimum of three years of successful teaching, pupil services, or community engagement experience.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and to serve as a coach in enhancing the performance of teachers/administrators.

Knowledge of school administration and its relationship to instruction, curriculum, assessment, and operation of the school district.
