American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for an 18-week night shift travel contract at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital in Nebraska, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with a minimum of 2 years of experience.

ICU setting within an acute care hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center

33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
-
Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients

RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
-
RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand used with tele tech oversight
-
Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation

EMR system is Epic

12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)

Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required

Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period required

Floating may be required to PCU or occasionally Med/Surg at typical unit ratios (1:4 or 1:5)

If placed on call and called back in, a 30-minute arrival window is required

Nurse aides available based on census; Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week (M–F, 0800–1630)

Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required

Epic EMR experience applicable to this role

Driver's license required for consideration, used to verify permanent address for radius compliance

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified by driver's license)

Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift

A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered on Wednesdays during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass

RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week period must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved

Block scheduling is not available; self-scheduling applies to core staff, with travelers placed into the schedule
-
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination

Blue scrubs or facility dress code may apply — confirm specifics during onboarding
