Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this vital role, you will operate heavy-duty dump trucks to transport construction materials, debris, and other freight safely and efficiently across various job sites. Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment when necessary, ensuring proper securing of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Plan and execute route driving strategies utilizing GPS navigation systems for efficient delivery schedules across OTR routes
- Transport freight, construction materials, or hazardous substances while maintaining compliance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues; report any defects promptly
- Load and unload cargo at various sites, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo while adhering to safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on tractor-trailer operations and delivery driving
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving
- Skilled in route planning using GPS navigation tools for efficient OTR driving routes
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks with manual handling techniques for load & unload tasks
- Experience with freight management including truck loading/unloading, logistics cargo handling, and dangerous goods transportation
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, and specialized equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience in delivery driver roles preferred
