The Role
As a Cook at The Winchester Cafe, you'll prepare our classic Southern comfort food menu with consistency and care, keep the line moving during busy breakfast and lunch rushes, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Winchester Cafe recipes and standards
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the restaurant
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, following health department guidelines
- Ensure food is stored and labeled correctly, and rotated using FIFO practices
- Communicate with servers and management to ensure timely, accurate ticket completion
- Assist with inventory counts and notify management of low stock
- Follow all food safety and handling procedures at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen preferred
- Ability to work quickly and calmly under pressure during rushes
- A strong work ethic and reliable attendance
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- A team player attitude and respect for fellow staff
- Food handler's certification a plus (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25-50 lbs
