Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and transfer methods
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, maintaining accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support residents with medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or mental condition to nursing staff promptly
- Implement infection control protocols using aseptic techniques during care procedures like catheter care and wound management
- Facilitate communication with residents and their families to ensure comfort and address concerns effectively
- Assist with safe patient transfers and manual handling practices to prevent injury for both residents and staff
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification with current state licensure required
- Experience working in long-term care facilities or nursing homes preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS) certification required
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work with geriatric patients or individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and adhere to safe lifting practices during resident transfers
