Music & Movement Teacher (Part-Time)
Christian Weekday Program is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dependable Music & Movement Teacher to join our preschool team! If you have a passion for music, enjoy working with young children, and love creating engaging learning experiences, we would love to hear from you.
Position Details
- Part-Time: 2 days per week
- Hours: 4 hours per day
- Location: Springfield, VA
- Age Group: Children ages 2½–5 years
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate music and movement curriculum for preschool-aged children.
- Plan and lead interactive music classes that encourage creativity, confidence, rhythm, movement, and participation.
- Introduce children to basic musical concepts through singing, dancing, instruments, games, and creative movement.
- Practice monthly chapel songs with students in preparation for chapel services.
- Rehearse and prepare students for the school's major performances, including:
- Christmas Program
- End-of-Year Program
- Lead and direct students during school performances.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Preschool Director to support school events and curriculum goals.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and encouraging classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching music to young children is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children ages 2½–5 years is strongly preferred.
- Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Strong singing and classroom management skills.
- Ability to play piano, guitar, or another accompanying instrument is a plus, but not required.
- Reliable, energetic, patient, and passionate about early childhood education.
- Must successfully complete all required background checks before employment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
