Position Description
The Estimator performs a variety of standard estimating activities (individually or as part of a team) on an assigned project/program. The Estimator at this level is responsible for the overall planning and coding efforts to produce comprehensive production based project cost estimates. The successful applicant will provide data and cost analysis for estimate review and presentations, will be responsible for developing bid strategies, site investigations, managing contracts, takeoffs, detailed breakdown of cost components, indirect cost and analysis of margins, and demonstrates familiarity in applying company policies and assigned project/program practices and procedure This is a full-time position, with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits offered.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project.

Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, etc.

Prepares material takeoffs on assigned contract, project, or program from engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Prepares detailed breakdown structures for contracts, projects, or elements of a program sufficient to define the scope to be delivered.
- Defines the specific scope intended by the contract documents.

Reviews contract documents to assess contract risk and significant exposure to estimated cost if potential risks are experienced

Includes interfacing with customer representatives, other contractors, etc.

Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
- Assists Project Manager on alternative project execution approaches based on the scope of work and the most cost-effective execution methods available.

Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and change orders.

Identify new and expanded business opportunities while at customer sites and through customer contact.

Position Requirements
Qualifications: Need to Have and Nice to Have:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is Preferred although not mandatory with solid experience.

Minimum of 3–5+ years of experience as an estimator on relevant heavy concrete construction required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Blue Beam, Bid 2 Win software highly desired.
- Advanced math and computer skills; Previous experience using estimating database supported software.

Minimum 2-3 years construction field experience.

Ability to conceptualize the project schedule from project start through completion, including sequence/phasing of work

Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with, construction contract commercial documents, drawings and specifications.

Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.

Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co workers, supervisors and the general public at all times

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities and sometimes conflicting deadlines.

Reliable and punctual attendance.
