Associate Veterinarian (Part-Time or Full-Time)
Wild Things Animal Hospital – Pleasant View, TN
Come Practice Medicine the Way It Was Meant to Be.
What if you could work 2–4 days a week, have an incredible support team, enjoy surgery, see exotics, take a real lunch break every day, and still practice outstanding medicine?
At Wild Things Animal Hospital, that's not wishful thinking—it's how we've built our practice.
Imagine walking into work knowing your technicians have already anticipated what you'll need, your assistants keep the day moving, and you're surrounded by a team that genuinely has your back. Instead of wearing every hat in the hospital, you can focus on what you became a veterinarian to do: provide exceptional patient care.
We're a privately owned, AAHA-accredited hospital where teamwork isn't just a buzzword—it's how we operate every single day. Our technicians and assistants are highly trained, knowledgeable, and empowered to support our doctors, allowing you to practice medicine efficiently and confidently. Every member of our team is respected, valued, and recognized for the important role they play in caring for our patients.
We're a busy hospital with loyal clients and a diverse caseload, including dogs, cats, exotics, and even the occasional wildlife patient. Some days are fast-paced and demanding, but you'll never face them alone. We work hard, laugh often, celebrate each other's successes, and truly enjoy coming to work together.
If you're looking for more than just another job—if you're looking for a place where you can build a career, enjoy life outside of work, and genuinely love coming to work each day—we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Practice high-quality medicine for dogs and cats.
- See a diverse caseload, including exotics such as birds, rabbits, reptiles, and small mammals.
- Perform routine soft tissue surgeries, including spays, neuters, dentals, and mass removals.
- Build lasting client relationships through compassionate communication.
- Work independently when scheduled as the sole veterinarian while being supported by an exceptional team.
What We're Looking For
- DVM or equivalent with an active Tennessee veterinary license (or ability to obtain one).
- Comfortable performing routine soft tissue surgery.
- Someone who genuinely enjoys surgery and takes pride in providing excellent surgical care.
- Experience seeing exotics is preferred.
- Confident practicing independently when scheduled as the sole veterinarian.
- A collaborative team player who values technicians, assistants, and receptionists as equal partners in patient care.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, client-focused approach to medicine.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to grow with a privately owned practice.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Privately owned, AAHA-accredited practice.
- Outstanding, experienced support staff.
- Digital radiology, in-house laboratory, ultrasound, and modern equipment.
- Diverse caseload including dogs, cats, exotics, and occasional wildlife.
- Busy, fast-paced practice with a loyal and growing client base.
- No production pressure or corporate quotas.
- No scheduled after-hours or on-call shifts. Staying late is rare and typically only happens for true emergency surgeries or critically ill patients.
- Flexible scheduling with 2–4 workdays per week because we believe work-life balance isn't just something you talk about—it's something you practice.
- Compensation is competitive and based on experience, schedule, and the overall benefits package. We offer flexible compensation options for the right candidate.
- Flexible compensation and benefits package tailored to the right candidate.
- Continuing education opportunities.
- Paid licensure and professional dues (for eligible positions).
- Employee pet care discounts.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
Lunch Breaks Matter
We intentionally block 1.5–2 hours in the middle of the day to allow time to catch up on the morning's appointments, complete drop-offs, and, most importantly, ensure every team member has the opportunity to step away for lunch.
We believe that taking time to eat, recharge, and reset isn't a luxury—it's essential. Veterinary medicine is demanding, and we know our doctors and staff provide the highest level of care when they have the time to care for themselves, too.
Work-Life Balance
We don't believe that working five days a week is the only way to build a successful veterinary career. Our doctors typically work 2–4 days per week, allowing time for family, hobbies, travel, or simply recharging outside of the hospital.
Our philosophy is simple: happy, well-rested veterinarians provide better medicine. We work hard when we're here, support one another through busy days, and make sure there's time to enjoy life outside of work.
Join Our Team
We're looking for the right person—not just someone to fill a position. We want someone who loves surgery, enjoys seeing a wide variety of species, values teamwork, and wants to become part of a hospital where everyone works together toward the same goal: providing exceptional patient care.
If you're searching for a long-term home where you can practice exceptional medicine, enjoy an incredible support team, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and truly look forward to coming to work each day, we'd love to meet you.
