Pharmacy Technician
Leff Prescription Center is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and professional Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with prescription processing and dispensing activities while also performing cashier, inventory, customer-service, and general pharmacy duties.
The ideal candidate should be accurate, organized, dependable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
Job Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing and dispensing under appropriate supervision.
- Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately.
- Assist with preparing prescriptions for dispensing, including counting, measuring, labeling, and packaging medications as directed.
- Assist with prescription refills, transfers, and insurance processing as permitted by law and pharmacy policy.
- Communicate with patients regarding prescription pickup and routine pharmacy matters.
- Accurately operate the pharmacy register and process cash, credit card, and debit card transactions.
- Handle payments and provide correct change and receipts.
- Provide prescriptions to patients according to pharmacy procedures and pharmacist direction.
- Verify patient information and prescription pickup information as required.
- Assist with insurance claims, rejected claims, and other prescription-processing issues.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, checking, organizing, and restocking medications and pharmacy supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and maintaining adequate stock.
- Check inventory for expired, damaged, or short-dated products according to pharmacy procedures.
- Maintain organized medication shelves, storage areas, and workstations.
- Assist with prescription deliveries by preparing and organizing prescriptions for delivery.
- Assist with daily cleaning and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Work closely with pharmacists, technicians, cashiers, and other pharmacy staff.
- Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate customer service.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or pharmacy management.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) is a plus.
- Must meet all applicable state requirements for working as a pharmacy technician.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable working with cash registers and payment systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and pharmacy procedures carefully.
Important Responsibilities
Accuracy and patient safety are the highest priorities of this position. The Pharmacy Technician must carefully follow pharmacy procedures and pharmacist direction when processing, preparing, and dispensing prescriptions.
The position combines pharmacy technician responsibilities with cashier, customer service, prescription processing, and inventory management duties. Flexibility and willingness to assist with different areas of the pharmacy are essential.
