Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across designated routes, ensuring on-time deliveries and pickups.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts and dump trucks, following safety protocols.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, optimizing delivery schedules while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Handle various types of cargo including hazardous materials and dangerous goods in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation in compliance with FMCSA and DOT standards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Load and secure freight on flatbeds or other trailers ensuring proper weight distribution and safety standards are met.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks with a strong understanding of tractor-trailer systems.
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and freight handling procedures.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Ability to load & unload cargo safely using manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer service during deliveries.
- Experience in route driving involving logistics cargo handling for various types of freight including dangerous goods.
