North Central Family Medical Center (NCFMC) is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to delivering affordable, accessible healthcare and pharmacy services to individuals and families across all ages. As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), you will support the healthcare provider by preparing patients for exams, performing clinical tasks within your scope of practice, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. This role is vital to the daily operations of our medical center and to the quality of care we provide.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare patients for exams and procedures
· Take vital signs, perform routine screenings, and document medical histories in the EMR
· Assist providers with exams and minor procedures (e.g., pap smears, EKGs, suture removal, injections)
· Collect lab specimens and performs basic lab services
· Maintain exam room cleanliness and ensure supplies are stocked daily
· Escort patients within the facility and provide mobility assistance as needed
· Respond promptly to urgent symptoms (e.g., chest pain, shortness of breath)
· Manage EMR documentation accurately and efficiently
· Coordinate patient visits
· Support the team during staff shortages and rotate to other departments/sites when needed
· Follow HIPAA standards and infection control protocols
· Actively participate in daily meetings, evaluations, and required trainings
Education / Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required
· Graduate of an accredited Medical Office Assistant program required
Licenses/Certifications:
· Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through AAMA, AMT, or CCT
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Skills:
· Prior experience in an outpatient clinic or urgent care setting preferred
· Strong patient care and clinical skills
· Excellent communication and teamwork
· Ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment
· Basic proficiency with EMR systems and office equipment
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Work Environment & Physical Demands
· Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands
· Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
· Exposure to clinical environments and infectious materials
· Moderate noise levels
· Occasional travel between Rock Hill and Chester locations
