Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, administer, manage, and lead all aspects of a highly competitive NJCAA women's softball program. Responsibilities include student-athlete recruitment and retention, coaching, player development, academic success, compliance, budget oversight, fundraising, community engagement, staff supervision, and program administration. The Head Softball Coach is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence that supports student-athlete achievement in the classroom, competition, and community while advancing the mission and values of Salt Lake Community College.
Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the women's softball program, including recruiting, coaching, player development, scheduling, scouting, practice planning, game strategy, travel coordination, equipment management, and team supervision.
Recruit, retain, and develop qualified student-athletes who align with the mission, values, and academic standards of Salt Lake Community College. Establish and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and community softball programs.
Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress, eligibility, retention, and graduation. Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and student services personnel to promote academic success and degree completion.
Ensure full compliance with NJCAA, Scenic West Athletic Conference, Region 18, and institutional rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain accurate records and prepare required eligibility, financial aid, and compliance documentation.
Under the direction of the Athletics Director, develop and administer the program budget while maintaining fiscal responsibility and accountability for all program expenditures.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff. Foster a positive culture that emphasizes integrity, sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, and student-athlete well-being.
Develop and implement fundraising initiatives, donor engagement strategies, youth camps, clinics, and community outreach efforts that support program growth and sustainability.
Collaborate with athletics staff to enhance marketing, social media, public relations, alumni engagement, game operations, and promotional activities that increase visibility and attendance.
Maintain knowledge of current softball coaching techniques, training methodologies, player development strategies, sports performance principles, and industry best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
