Position Title: Part-Time/PRN Staff Pharmacist
Department: Provider-Based Retail Pharmacy
Reports To: Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)
Employment Status: Part-Time or PRN (As Needed)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime business hours 730am-6:30 depending on your assigned schedule. No late evenings, No weekends, Off 7 Major Holidays
Flexible part time/PRN coverage for vacations, staff absences, and increased patient volume.
Position Summary
The Part-Time/PRN Staff Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care, with 340-B services. The pharmacist collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered medication therapy.
This position is responsible for accurate prescription verification and dispensing, patient counseling, medication therapy management, and promoting medication adherence while delivering exceptional customer service. The pharmacist plays an integral role in supporting continuity of care, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring compliance with all organizational and state regulations.
Essential Responsibilities Clinical and Patient Care
- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide individualized patient counseling regarding medication use, expected outcomes, side effects, drug interactions, storage, and adherence.
- Perform prospective drug utilization reviews and identify potential medication-related problems.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers regarding medication selection, dosage adjustments, therapeutic alternatives, and formulary recommendations.
- Promote medication adherence through patient education, refill management, and follow-up when appropriate.
- Support 340-B program and assist qualifying patients with education, knowledge and contacts for the 340-B program.
- Support medication therapy management (MTM) and other clinical pharmacy services.
Pharmacy Operations
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support personnel during assigned shifts.
- Ensure timely, accurate processing of electronic, written, and verbal prescriptions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation including 340-B program.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, expiration monitoring, and controlled substance accountability.
- Resolve third-party insurance claim issues and assist with prior authorizations and medication access when appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, HIPAA standards, OSHA guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Participate in workflow improvements and quality assurance initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of TEXAS.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred.
- Knowledge of retail pharmacy operations, pharmacy management software, and third-party billing.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills.
Preferred Experience
- One or more years of retail pharmacy experience.
- Experience in a provider-based, ambulatory care, or physician office pharmacy preferred.
- Experience with medication therapy management, immunization services, and patient education.
- Familiarity with insurance processing, prior authorizations, and medication access programs including the 340-B program.

Work Environment
This position is based on a provider-based retail pharmacy, offering a collaborative, patient-focused practice setting. The pharmacist works closely with healthcare providers and clinic staff to improve patient access to medications and support continuity of care.
