The Associate Instructor for Programs is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach people of all ages, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community. This specific opportunity focuses on our adult programs. Which include Sport Climbing Instruction (introduction to lead climbing) as well as Peak Performance Team. Our weekly small-format, technique-based coaching for adults. Greater responsivities may include top rope belaying for participants and helping facilitate events/groups. Responsibilities may also include teaching adult introductory belay, bouldering or other technique-based classes, and/or general instruction, all while managing risks for participants during our various programs. There is potential to train other instructors on youth focused classes based on gym need and appropriate training. Prior intermediate-to-advanced climbing experience is required, but we are excited to help individuals who are excited to learn, grow as climbers and instructors!
- Facilitate transformative climbing experiences while managing risks for participants and the community at large.
- Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
- Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
- Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
- Develop skills to effectively communicate with others and listen to other perspectives to build partnerships.
- Have a passion for climbing.

- Prior climbing experience required.
- Lead/Sport climbing background and skillset is required.
- Prior experience instructing, on any topic, is preferred.
- Formal background in climbing instructor is encouraged.
- Ability to work 4-8 hours per week primarily on weekday afternoons or weekends.
- This is a part time position
- Starting at $14/hr, with flexibility based on experience
