Spring Garden Academy, a ministry of Highway Mission Tabernacle, is hiring a school counselor to serve the needs of our youth, staff, and families . The counselor position is partially funded through a school safety grant. Part-time to full-time hours available.
The position will require the candidate to work with a small school leadership team as we address the well-being of our school family. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, connecting families to resources; coordinating training and resource events; advocating and promoting the social-emotional curriculum, Conscious Discipline, in the school and home; coordinating implementation of trauma-informed practices in the school, home, and community; implementing recommended best practices for school wellness; and providing some direct service. Candidate must have a solid background in trauma-informed theories and experience working with trauma-impacted communities. Candidate must be a self-starter willing to work collaboratively in a non-traditional, team-based school environment. We will consider a candidate who is newer to the field but is willing to learn and grow in working in a trauma-impacted community and school setting.
BA/BS required in counseling or social work. Certification/licensing or MA course work a plus.
