Responsibilities
- Assist in menu planning and meal preparation, ensuring adherence to recipes and dietary guidelines
- Prepare food items using proper knife skills, slicing techniques, and cooking methods to ensure consistency and quality
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area by following cleaning schedules and sanitation standards to promote food safety
- Support food handling procedures in compliance with safety standards in production and food safety management
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service and ensure timely delivery of food
- Contribute to catering events or special meal preparations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
Experience
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with food preparation, cooking, and food service operations in a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal presentation techniques
- Experience operating kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, and other culinary appliances
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff and team members
- Previous catering or large-scale meal preparation experience is a plus
