Musical Theatre Teaching Artists needed for elementary school performing arts enrichment after school program

WR Arts is currently seeking reliable, warm-hearted, passionate, and compassionate people to join our team. We are looking for a MUSICAL THEATRE TEACHING ARTIST to join our in-school team our after-school programing between 2 - 6PM.
MUST BE ABLE TO ARRIVE TO GREENPOINT/ WILLIAMSBURG/ BED-STUY AREA BY 2PM
WR Arts strives to support Northern Brooklyn’s diverse communities, bridging cultures through the performing arts. WR Arts provides quality performing arts enrichment education in a safe and supportive environment throughout the Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bed-Stuy areas. Our afterschool programs include public and private school partnerships and programming at our home-base studio.
Must be reliable, punctual, self-motivated, responsible, engaging, and committed.
Ideal applicants will be college graduates and/or dance educators with at least a year of experience teaching dance to elementary school-aged children, looking to cultivate a career in elementary arts education. We’re looking for individuals who are PATIENT, flexible, engaging, able to assess student needs, and manage a classroom setting. Childcare experience with young students in 3K, Pre-K and Kindergarten is a PLUS.
Requirements:
- College/Conservatory diploma (OR 3+ years dance education experience with work samples and references)
- 1+ years dance education experience, if recent college/conservatory graduate.
- Experience caring for/working with 3 - 5 year olds and/or 6 - 12 year olds.
- Ability to collaborate with teachers and develop curriculum.
- Ability to respectfully interact with students.
- Ability to engage and connect with students during non-class hours
- Ability to self manage & work as a teammate.
- Excellent communication skills with co-workers and admin.
- Organized, responsive and PUNCTUAL.
- Experience with students with special needs a plus!
- Bilingual (Spanish/English or French/English) is a plus, but let us know if you're fluent in other languages!
- Must be able to commute & arrive to the Bed-Stuy, Williamsburg, or Greenpoint area by 2PM during the week
- All WR Arts Teaching Artists, Assistants/ counselors and volunteers must have valid Photo Identification
- 2-3 References (email and phone numbers) must be provided before interview.
- Samples of your work must be provided before interview (teaching artist work and/or choreography videos, photos, sample lesson plans, etc…)
Agreement period: Fall 2026 Session (Sept. - Jan. '27), possibility to expand to Spring session (through June '27) likely

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Compensation: $25-$30/hour with shifts ranging from 2-3 hours per afternoon. Teaching hour compensation to be discussed and negotiated.
Our teaching artists and counselors are Independent Contractors of WR Arts and are not considered employees. Teaching Artists are paid through 1099 and required to pay their own self-employment taxes.
