Role Description The Development Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in St George, SC, supporting fundraising and donor relations activities for the Dorchester Heritage Center. The Development Assistant provides essential administrative, data, and project support to the Heritage Center's development operations and also facilitates the Center’s daily operations by greeting visitors or supervising volunteers in that capacity. They are responsible for maintaining accurate and timely donor, prospect, and gift records and related reporting through the use of the Heritage Center’s donor management system (CRM). They will also track membership development and annual giving initiatives as well as the Center’s grant portfolio and assist with grant writing as needed. A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, history, or a related field is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate should have 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, preferably within a museum or nonprofit organization and familiarity with grant writing and management. Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills are important to success in this position.
Salary range of $38K to $42K plus benefits.
