Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our care team. In this role, you will provide high-quality direct care and daily living assistance to residents in our assisted living facility. You will work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to ensure a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment that promotes resident independence and dignity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Mobility Support: Help transport residents safely using wheelchairs, walkers, mechanical lifts, and other assistive devices.
- Nutritional Support: Deliver meals, assist with feeding when necessary, and monitor hydration and dietary intake.
- Vital Signs Tracking: Measure and record vital signs, reporting any significant changes or health concerns to the supervising nurse immediately.
- Medication Assistance: (If certified) Complete an Alaska Board of Nursing approved medication distribution course to assist with or distribute medications under RN supervision.
- Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate resident records, including daily progress notes and care activities, utilizing electronic health records.
- Social & Emotional Engagement: Actively participate in the facility's philosophy of care by encouraging resident involvement in social, recreational, and physical activities.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, sanitize common areas, and maintain a clean resident environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Certification: Active and unencumbered Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification from the State of Alaska (or immediate eligibility for endorsement).
- Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and push continuously throughout an 8-to-12-hour shift.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a mandatory Alaska Department of Health background check and fingerprinting investigation.
- CPR & First Aid: Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain them within 30 days of hire).
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with residents, families, and medical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an assisted living facility or long-term care setting.
- Completed Alaska Board of Nursing approved medication pass training.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
