Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a wide range of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for use according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; document medical history, vital signs, and treatment details with precision.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and providing clear instructions on pre- and post-treatment care.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and inventory management to ensure all dental equipment is functioning optimally.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team during four-handed dentistry practices to improve workflow efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Uphold the highest standards of infection control and healthcare infection prevention practices to protect patients and staff alike.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proven knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health is required.
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, oral surgery assistance, endodontics procedures, prosthodontics support, and pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Proficiency in managing dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Patient Management Software ensures smooth administrative workflows.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management policies, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures is crucial for maintaining clinical excellence.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners and other advanced imaging tools confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating compassion for pediatric patients when needed.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance ensures confidentiality and legal adherence in all aspects of patient care.
