American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring vasopressor titration and ventilator patient care skills.

Acute care setting in a 20-bed Medical ICU (MICU)
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
-
Common diagnoses include sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
-
Utilizes EPIC EMR system
-
12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday for day shift)
-
No on-call or standby requirements
-
Floating required, with travelers floating first; may float to a stepdown unit (1:3 ratio) or general medicine unit (1:4 ratio)

Charge RN and 24/7 house supervisor support available
-
1 PCT to 10 patient ratio for support staff
-
Intensivist coverage in house approximately 0700-1900 with telemedicine and on-call attending support after hours

Telemetry monitoring available with Phillips monitors; RNs responsible for reading and interpreting strips

Active IL RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

Able to interpret EKG strips

Experience with arterial lines and central lines required

Proficient in care of ventilated patients
-
Advanced knowledge in titrating vasopressors and cardioactive medications required

Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
-
Responsible for titrating a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive medications per physician-driven parameters
-
Manages respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices
-
Orientation includes 8 hours learning EPIC, 8 hours with unit educator, 4-hour shadow shift, and a full 12-hour shift with a preceptor

Scrubs are not provided; no specific color required but sweatshirts are not allowed

Holiday coverage typically depends on staffing needs at the time
-
Local rate available for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
