Shelby TV On-Air Talent
The Charter Township of Shelby is seeking enthusiastic and dependable individuals to join Shelby TV, the Township’s award-winning government access television operation within the Community Relations Department. Shelby TV has been recognized by the Alliance for Community Media as the Nation’s Top Government Access Television Operations from 2022-2026 and provides residents with engaging programming covering community events, local government, public programs, and Township initiatives.
The On-Air Talent position provides an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in developing skills in broadcast journalism, video production, storytelling, interviewing, and on-camera performance. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain real-world experience in a professional media environment while serving the Shelby Township community.
On-Air Talent works on a limited, part-time basis, generally averaging approximately 5-10 hours per two-week pay period based on production needs and scheduled programming. While hours are limited, this position provides significant opportunities for professional growth, additional training, and advancement into expanded video production roles with increased responsibilities, hours, and higher pay rates.
Essential Job Functions

Serve as an on-air host, interviewer, and presenter for Shelby TV programs and productions.

Conduct interviews with Township officials, community leaders, residents, and event participants.

Assist with the production of community-focused video content, including broadcast segments, feature stories, event coverage, and promotional programming.

Research, prepare, and present information in an engaging and professional manner.

Work collaboratively with Shelby TV production staff, Community Relations Department employees, and community partners.

Learn and utilize professional video production equipment and techniques.

Assist with field productions, community events, and studio-based programming as needed.

Represent Shelby TV and the Charter Township of Shelby in a professional and positive manner.
Training and Advancement Opportunities

Minimum Requirement & Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally on camera and with members of the public.

Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to conduct interviews and present information clearly.

Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Dependable, punctual, and able to meet scheduled production commitments.

Interest in community journalism, media production, communications, or related fields preferred.
Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, and work in indoor and outdoor environments during video productions and community events.

Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on event schedules and production needs.
