Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver and/or Medication Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for administering medications and providing essential care to residents in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or similar environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care and a strong understanding of medical terminology, ensuring the highest standards of care for our residents.
Duties
- Administer medications to residents according to prescribed schedules and protocols.
- Document medication administration and any changes in resident conditions in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
- Assist with daily living activities and provide personal care as needed, including catheter care and tube feeding.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Conduct regular evaluation of vital signs and report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for residents.
- Provide support and companionship to residents, particularly those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and documentation practices is essential.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and patient care best practices.
- Experience working with elderly or individuals with complex medical needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care while respecting the dignity of all residents.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
