Are you looking for a way to serve the community in a meaningful, fulfilling manner? The Hiawatha Fire Department is in search of people who want to make a difference in the community! Volunteer Firefighters help their neighbors by responding to fire, medical and other service calls. Initial fire training is provided free of charge, with ongoing training twice a month. Firefighters are assigned to crews that are on duty together. Those crews assist in taking care of the fire station and equipment. They help in other ways too- by participating in fire prevention activities and doing standby at community events.
Volunteering with the fire department is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people, and serve the community in a meaningful, fulfilling way.
