Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Pediatric Private Duty Home Care (Trach/Vent Experience Required)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one in-home nursing care for a pediatric patient with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will have experience caring for children with tracheostomies and mechanical ventilators and be committed to delivering high-quality, family-centered care in the home setting.
Schedule
Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM or Day Shift: 9:00am - 9:00pm
- 3 Days a week
- Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- 12-hour shifts
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to a pediatric patient in the home environment.
- Monitor and manage respiratory status, including tracheostomy and ventilator care.
- Perform routine tracheostomy care, suctioning, and airway management as needed.
- Administer medications, treatments, and feedings according to physician orders and the plan of care.
- Monitor vital signs and assess changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and changes in patient status.
- Collaborate with family members, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate and support family members regarding patient care and safety measures.
- Ensure compliance with all agency policies, state regulations, and nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
- Previous pediatric home health experience preferred.
- Required experience with:
- Tracheostomy care
- Mechanical ventilator management
- Airway suctioning
- Pediatric respiratory care
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently in a home care setting.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and position pediatric patients as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform patient care duties throughout a 12-hour shift.
Preferred Skills
- Pediatric private duty nursing experience.
- Experience with gastrostomy tube (G-tube) care and feedings.
- Experience managing medically fragile children.
