Position: Barbering Instructor
The Barbering Instructor is responsible for creating a positive, engaging learning environment that promotes academic excellence and career readiness. The instructor will provide classroom and laboratory instruction aligned with industry standards while preparing students for the South Carolina LLR Master Hair Care (Barbering) licensure examination.
The successful candidate will inspire students through hands-on learning experiences, industry-relevant instruction, and professional mentorship while helping them develop the technical and employability skills necessary for success in the barbering profession.
Essential ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Student Learning
- Teach workplace safety practices and industry standards.
- Teach barbering concepts and skills related to hair, skin, and nail care.
- Teach salon and business management principles.
- Prepare students for South Carolina LLR Master Hair Care licensure requirements and assessments.
- Develop students' practical problem-solving and technical skills aligned with industry expectations.
- Integrate employability skills, professionalism, and career readiness into instruction.
- Provide guidance to students regarding career pathways and workforce opportunities.
Classroom and Laboratory Management
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Organize and maintain classroom and laboratory environments for effective instruction.
- Utilize demonstrations, technology, and audiovisual resources to enhance learning.
- Maintain inventory and ensure proper storage and use of equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and regulations.
Assessment and Student Support
- Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments and classroom assignments.
- Monitor and document student progress and competency attainment.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
- Provide academic support and intervention for students as needed.
- Communicate student progress with parents, counselors, and partner schools.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and industry training.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business and industry partners.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and community stakeholders.
- Complete required reports, lesson plans, competency documentation, and other instructional records.
Additional Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or designated district administrator.
QualificationsRequired
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
- Current South Carolina Barbering License.
- South Carolina Barbering Instructor Certification/Endorsement.
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend instructional events.
Preferred
- Previous teaching or training experience.
- Experience working with secondary students in a career and technical education environment.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience as a licensed barber.
- Teaching or instructional experience preferred.
