Responsibilities
- Quality Control: Inspecting each preroll to ensure proper filling, tightness, and consistency. Checking for defects like loose rolls or uneven distribution of product.
- Labeling: Accurately labeling each package with product information such as strain name, THC/CBD content, weight, and batch number.
- Packaging: Properly sealing and packaging prerolls in compliant containers, which might include branded boxes, tubes, or jars. Ensuring all packaging meets regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping workspaces, tools, and equipment clean and sanitary to meet health and safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Keeping track of inventory levels of prerolls, raw materials (such as cannabis flower, cones, and packaging), and ensuring products are stored correctly.
- Compliance: Following all state and federal regulations related to packaging, labeling, and product handling, including adherence to cannabis industry-specific guidelines..
- Efficiency and Productivity: Maintaining speed and accuracy while packaging, meeting production targets without sacrificing quality.
- Reporting: Documenting production data, packaging errors, and other relevant information to keep supervisors and managers informed.
- Collaborating with Other Teams: Working alongside inventory, quality control, and shipping teams to ensure that orders are fulfilled correctly and on time.
- Handling Equipment: Operating and maintaining packaging machines or tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- gh School Diploma or GED: Most positions require at least a high school education. Some employers may accept equivalent work experience in lieu of formal education.
2. Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic Knowledge of Cannabis: A solid understanding of cannabis products (strains, cannabinoids like THC and CBD, etc.) is beneficial, especially to help ensure proper packaging and labeling.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial when measuring, rolling, and packaging cannabis products to meet weight requirements and quality standards.
- Quality Control Skills: Ability to assess the quality of the product, checking for issues such as broken or poorly rolled joints, consistency, or packaging defects.
- Knowledge of Compliance and Regulations: Understanding of state and local cannabis laws and regulations related to packaging, labeling, and safety standards is essential for ensuring compliance.
- Basic Math and Weighing Skills: Basic math skills for measuring cannabis and calculating weights for each preroll, ensuring each package meets the required amount.
3. Physical Requirements:
- Manual Dexterity: Comfortable working with hands, including rolling and packaging products quickly and accurately.
- Standing for Long Periods: The ability to stand for extended periods while working on the production line or at workstations.
- Ability to Lift and Move Boxes: Some packaging roles may involve lifting boxes of materials or finished products, so being able to lift a moderate amount of weight may be required.
4. Technical and Equipment Skills:
- Machine Operation: Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic packaging machines or tools, including those used for rolling, filling, sealing, and labeling products.
- Basic Computer Skills: Some knowledge of computer systems for inventory tracking, labeling, and production reports can be helpful.
- Experience in Cannabis Industry (Preferred): Previous experience in the cannabis industry, especially in packaging, production, or similar roles, is often preferred but not always required.
- Experience in Manufacturing/Production (Preferred): Experience working in a manufacturing or production setting is helpful for understanding workflow, handling equipment, and ensuring quality control.
