This dynamic role is designed for an individual who loves both traditional literacy and modern technology. This full-time position combines managing our school library media center with instructing students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in computer literacy and technology skills.
For the upcoming 2026-27 school year, this role features a collaborative transition period. You will work alongside our current computer literacy instructor to smoothly hand off existing technology responsibilities, learn the nuances of our computer literacy curriculum, and flatten the learning curve as you take over the school librarian duties.
Key Responsibilities

Library Media Center Management & Instruction:

Collection Lifecycle Management: Manage the school library/media center, including collection development, cataloging, and the circulation of print and digital resources. Update collections regularly to reflect changing curriculum needs and diverse student interests.

Information Literacy: Teach research skills, critical thinking, and information evaluation strategies to help students develop habits of independent inquiry.

Reading Cultivation: Promote a lifelong love of reading and literacy across all K-8 grade levels through interactive media center programming.

Technology & Computer Literacy Instruction:

Curriculum Delivery: Teach K-8 computer literacy classes, focusing on keyboarding, basic software applications, and computer-savvy skills.

Digital Citizenship: Instruct students on responsible technology use, internet safety, and ethical information-seeking behaviors (copyright, plagiarism).

Curriculum Integration: Collaborate with classroom teachers to design learning experiences that seamlessly integrate technology tools and digital platforms into standard subjects.
School Tech Support & Administration

Infrastructure Support: Coordinate and assist with building-level technology needs, hardware/software troubleshooting, and managing library automation systems (e.g., Follett Destiny).

Transition Partnership: Work directly with the current tech specialist during the transition year to understand building-specific workflows.

Mission Aligned: Infuse Catholic values, ethics, and a supportive, faith-based approach into daily interactions, digital citizenship discussions, and classroom instruction.

Education/Certification: Valid Iowa Teaching License with a Teacher Librarian / School Media Specialist endorsement (or willingness/eligibility to obtain one via an alternative pathway) is highly preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in library management databases, educational technology tools, and elementary-to-middle school instructional strategies. Strong troubleshooting and technical aptitude.
