Founded in 1998, It Works is Maryland's leading healthcare training school, offering PCT, CNA-I, and other training programs. We work with many of the area's leading hospitals, LTC, SNF, AL, and other employers. Our corporate office is located in Annapolis, however we are seeking additinal faculty for our Baltimore training sites.
Instructor Requirements - PLEASE READ!
Our PCT instructors need to have an active RN and be an experienced healthcare professional with multiple years of experience teaching CNA, PCT, and RN programs.
By regulation, all CNA-I instructors in Maryland must (1) be a registered nurse (RN) licensed to practice in Maryland; (2) have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years; and (3) have 2 years of teaching experience or the 16 hour “Train the trainer” certificate from the community college. All instructors should have current vaccinations, including COVID-19. Preference is given to applicants who have experience teaching the CNA/GNA program.
Work Schedule
The PCT course is a 13 week program. Classes are delivered 3 days or nights per week from 8:30am-2:30pm or 5:30pm-10:30pm. Clinicals training is 40 hours in groups of 8 students from are 6:45am-3:00pm or 2:45pm-11:00pm
The CNA/GNA course is an 8-13 week program. Classes are delivered 3-5 days or nights per week from 8:45am-3:00pm or 5:30pm-10:30pm. Clinical training is 40 hours in groups of 8 students from 6:30am-3:00pm or 2:30pm-11:00pm.
Instructors must also be available for periodic faculty and staff meetings.
Instructor Responsibilities
The PCT class instructor delivers 24 chapter lectures, administer 24 chapter tests and a final exam. Skills lab training is based on hospital requirements.
The CNA class instructor delivers 24 chapter lectures, administer 24 chapter tests and a final exam. There are 21 core nursing assistant skills which must be demonstrated and validated for each student. Students must maintain a minimum average of 80%, validated on all skills, and miss no more than 10 hours of class. Instructors must report (1) attendance at the start and completion of every class, (2) grades weekly, (3) skills validations weekly, and (4) report on other issues, as necessary.
