Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Personal Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to a client in a private home in Flowermound. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting independence, safety, and well-being through personalized care. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and independence.
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, managing medication administration, and updating care plans accordingly.
- Support residents with mobility using proper patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts to ensure safety for both client and caregiver.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance mental well-being and foster positive relationships.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient observations, medication logs, and incident reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community activities using personal or agency-provided transportation resources.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning living areas to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans for clients with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Utilize manual handling techniques safely during patient transfers or heavy lifting tasks while adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a caregiver
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Ability to perform CPR and first aid effectively; certification preferred but not required upon hire.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Competence in assisting with ADLs and providing personal care assistance with compassion and professionalism.
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and patient transfers safely.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for client outings or appointments.
